ATHX 2027: here are the season's new movements
The ATHX 2027 season is here, marking the biggest global expansion in the competition's history: more than 21 cities worldwide, with confirmed stops including London, Madrid, Berlin, Stuttgart, Paris, Lisbon, and Dublin.
The biggest change for athletes preparing to compete is in the event format. In Strength, ATHX moves from last year's 1RM, 3RM, and 5RM scheme to a tougher one: 1RM shoulder-to-overhead, 2RM back squat, and 3RM deadlift, each attempted twice.
In Endurance, the event now opens with a 3km run buy-in followed by max-distance ski erg, replacing rowing as the segment's main component.
In MetCon-X, the row and burpee broad jumps are gone, replaced by additional ski erg work and burpees over a soft bench. Staples like dumbbell ground-to-overhead, dumbbell bench press, and sandbag squats and carries remain.
On the format side, ATHX 2027 introduces ATHX TV, inspired by retro television and streaming culture: every city becomes its own channel, and every event its own episode, all under the same standard as always — “one floor, one standard, one global community.”
At ATHLEX Training we're already reviewing these format changes: in the coming weeks we'll start adapting our weekly programming to prepare athletes training with us for ATHX 2027, with the strength, endurance, and technique base this new season demands.
