What Is ATHX Games? How the Competition Works
ATHX Games is a UK-born hybrid fitness competition that combines CrossFit-style maximal strength with the cardiovascular endurance of events like HYROX, all packed into a single continuous 2.5-hour session.
The competition traces back to 2023, when the organizing teams behind Strength in Depth (SiD) — known for elite CrossFit events — and National Fitness Games (NFG) merged. That merger gave rise to the format known today as ATHX.
The test is built around three equally weighted pillars: maximal strength (lifts such as strict press, back squat or deadlift for max reps), cardiovascular endurance (running and rowing or other machine blocks), and metabolic conditioning (a high-intensity WOD built from functional movements). Each pillar accounts for roughly a third of the final result.
There are categories for different levels: a Pro division for elite athletes, Individual and Pairs divisions for the general public, and age-group categories — letting CrossFit and HYROX athletes compete alongside people trying functional fitness for the first time.
ATHX Games has grown fast since launch: it signed a multi-year global partnership with Adidas and has kept adding stops across Europe, with its first North American event held in Miami Beach in March 2026. Each season wraps up with a World Final bringing together the top finishers from every stop on the circuit.
